Safety features in our residence halls include cameras on exterior doors and ACT Card access to most residence halls and elevators. Additionally, the Community-Oriented Police (COP) program brings UAPD officers into residence halls to develop relationships with students and maintain a presence after hours. Residents maintain the safety of their community by keeping doors locked and reporting any concerns to hall staff or UAPD at 205-348-5454.

We encourage students to sign up for UA Alerts through myBama and download the UA Safety App to receive important safety information, including severe weather updates, and review UA’s Safer Living Guide for information on how to practice smart personal safety.

Severe Weather

Tuscaloosa severe weather can include severe thunderstorms and occasionally tornadoes. UA is a certified StormReady University by the National Weather Service.
