1. Accepted to The University of Alabama

Complete Admissions Application

In order to start the Housing Application process, first complete the admissions process and pay the enrollment deposit (freshmen only).

2. Housing Application

Opens: October 1, 9 a.m. CDT
Room selection participation deadline: February 1, 11:59 p.m. CST

Complete the housing application before the room selection participation deadline in order to participate in Room Selection. The earlier you apply, the earlier you select your room.

Exemptions

While UA requires all freshmen to live on campus, some exceptions apply. Review our exemption policies and learn how to apply for an exemption.

3. Housing Considerations

Living-Learning Communities

Deadline: Vary by community
Living-Learning Communities (LLCs) provide students with unique living environments that engage them with students of similar goals and interests. Learn more about our LLCs and their individual application processes.

Transfer and Graduates

We offer on-campus housing for more than just freshmen! Learn more about our designated transfer and graduate student options.

Medical Requests

Deadline: April 1

We provide accommodating housing for students with medical disabilities. Review our medical request policies and learn how to apply for special housing accommodations.

4. Explore Housing Options

Halls

From traditional, suite, and apartment style halls, we offer a variety of living options to meet the needs of our students. Explore our halls to find the best option for you. 

Rates

Review the rates for each hall to find which options fit your personal budget.

Roommates

Deadline: For Fall, we encourage students to form their roommate group, if they wish to form one, by May 15!

5. Housing Assignment

Your housing assignment process depends on if you applied before or after the room selection participation deadline of February 1.

Room Selection

Applied for housing by February 1

Students who apply before the room selection participation deadline qualify for room selection. Information about room selection, including each student’s log in time, is sent to Crimson email accounts.

Room Assignment

Applied for housing after February 1

HRC staff assign students that apply after the room selection participation deadline beginning in mid-May. Factors that affect when a student’s assignment is made include housing application date; gender; LLC participation, if any; and roommate. Assignments are made through mid-July. Please note, HRC makes every effort to assign students with a requested roommate, if space allows, but cannot guarantee this.
